BRITANNIA VILLAGE: ECLECTIC ARCHITECTURE AND FASCINATING HISTORY
BRITANNIA VILLAGE: ECLECTIC ARCHITECTURE AND FASCINATING HISTORY
THIS TOUR HAS NOW SOLD OUT
NEW TOUR: First established as a sawmill town in 1818, Britannia Village’s rapid development in early 1900 was largely driven by the Britannia Amusement Park. The Park became one of Canada’s top tourist attractions, owing largely to the magnificent “electrified” Britannia Pier. Both trolley and train facilitated transportation to the Park. It was a failed hydroelectric project in the Village that made possible both the creation of the Britannia Pier and new boat harbours that allowed the membership of the Britannia Yacht Club, first established in 1887, to increase by 600%.
Join us as we tour the historic village, stopping at 14 designated heritage properties while we recount stories from the past aided by storyboards and printed material.
